According to a new poll from Reuters/Ipsos, around 44% of Democratic registered voters have expressed disapproval about President Joe Biden’s handling of both the war in Gaza and the U.S. campus protests in response to it.

“Democrats who disapproved of his response were less likely to say they would vote for Biden in the Nov. 5 election,” Reuters reports.

Criticism often stems from Biden’s ongoing support arming Israel, whose actions have seen over 35,000 civilians killed and have facilitated the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) ruling to protect Gazans against genocide.

Despite Biden’s May 7 delay on weapons shipments, which include controversial 2,000-pound bombs, the administration has gone ahead with a $1 billion weapons package this week.

Reuters also reports, “Overall, just 34% of registered voters approve of Biden’s handling of the war, including 53% of Democrats, 31% of independents and 22% of Republicans.” The poll surveyed 3,934 U.S. adults nationwide, including 3,208 registered voters.

“He’s losing votes from the left, right and center,” Douglas Schoen, a pollster and strategist who reviewed the Reuters/Ipsos poll results, told Reuters.
